Digital ED
An educational ecosystem that is transforming India's digital learning experience.
My Role: Research | Information Architecture | Wireframing | Prototyping
Overview
Digital ED (internal name) is a product of a global K-8 learning company headquartered in Singapore. The enterprise aims to transform the Indian education system from rote learning to a digitised experience based learning.
The team had to design an educational ecosystem of digital platforms. I worked on 3 out of 4 products targeted towards adults and children.
CHALLENGE
One of the major challenges of this project was to design application intended for CRT monitor screens. The general target audience were schools with limited resources functioning on outdated technology. Therefore, each application had to be carefully scaled to fit the limited real estate of CRT monitors. Apart from that, typography and colours played a huge role in overcoming the sombre and pixelated view of the display monitor.
Pitch Project
At the beginning of the project, my colleague and I were given the task to redesign the user flow for students (ages 5 -13) entering their identification details in the student assessment app.
Before: Students were given a single screen with an ambiguous calculator like UI element to enter their credentials.
After: We proposed to break down the process of entering student details into smaller task wherein kids will have dedicated screens for each entry.
The prototype was user tested with students by the client and the results showed that the proposed navigation was smooth and seamless.

Designs
We delivered the following 3 interfaces:
School Web App
Assessment App
Digital Classroom
SCHOOL WEB APP
A design from scratch, the app enables admin and teachers to perform daily workflows related to school management and education respectively. The target audience for the app are teachers and administrative members of varied age groups. (Visual design by GDD team)
ASESSMENT APP
An existing web app, that allows students to take periodic MCQ tests set by their teachers on lessons taught in class. The app provides instant test results and shares them directly with the parents via a mobile app. The main objective was to redesign the interface to make more appealing and user friendly. DIGITAL CLASSROOM
An existing web app, wherein students of Grades 1-8 attend audio/visual classes each week on either math or science. The main objective was to redesign the interface to make it more appealing and user friendly. (Visual design by GDD team)
